Jason-Aldean

Jason Aldean is a little offended by the term “bro-country.” He tells PennLive.com that he doesn’t feel he fit’s the description.

It bothers me because I don’t feel like it’s a compliment. To me, it’s sort of a backhanded thing that comes from a very narrow-minded listener and I don’t know who came up with that ridiculous term.

“If you would take a minute and look at my catalog of songs over the years, there are songs that, I guess, fit whatever the hell that description of “bro country” is, but at the same time we’ve got songs like ‘Fly over States’ and ‘The Truth’ and ‘Amarillo Sky.’ We’ve got songs that definitely have some meat on them and tell a great story. It’s not all about trucks and girls and beer and whatever else they think it is.”

In fact, it was just last weekend I stated that I think Jason Aldean went from a good ole country boy to a country bro. He doesn’t think it’s a complement, and frankly, neither do we.

It’s true, Jason has some truly great music in his catalog, but like I stated, just not from anything recent. Even the songs he used as an example are from 2005, 2009, and 2012. Well, here we are… 2015 and we’re “Just Gettin’ Started,” “Burnin’ It Down.” I feel like our point has kind of been proven here. Jason has the ability to make great music…He’s just chosen not to in recent years.  The sad thing is, a lot of his fans who like his new music have no idea what the hell an “Amarillo Sky” is.
